Features:
a) Pearl pigments have the luster as an additional property in comparison
with other pigments
b) Their characteristic properties of a surface structure, high refractory
index and transparency create in a transparent medium and equal to the
luster of pearls
c) Pearl pigments consist of a nucleus of mica, which is surrounded by
several metal oxide layers
d) Different gloss will be obtained by changing the oxides
e) The excellent chemical, printing inks, thermal and mechanical properties of the pigments
provide universal application possibilities in paints,
plastics and many other uses
f) They provide the products with a new color quality
g) The pigments are physiologically harmless and can also be used in food
packaging and toys for children
h) Diluted acids and alkalis do not damage them
i) The pigments are environmentally harmless as they are practically
insoluble in water and do not contain any heavy metals
j) They are generally classified as not detrimental to water quality
k) The pigments are non - combustible and not self - igniting
l) They do not conduct electricity and can tolerate temperatures up to
800oC
m) They can also be used as luster pigments for reactive paints such as
radiation cured systems (electron beam curing, UV )
n) Their chemical structure allows for excellent dispersion making them
appropriate for water based coatings
